Avatar set to premiere at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

This has hit the Disney Fan Community! Here is the official announcement…

From the Disney Parks Blog…

From the moment AVATAR was released, people were captivated by the mythical world of Pandora. When we announced that we’d be working with James Cameron and Lightstorm Entertainment to bring this world to life in our parks, we felt certain that this partnership and combination of talent and imagination would produce an experience unlike any other ever created.

Our combined team has taken huge steps forward in “imagineering” Pandora as a real place for our guests to see, hear and touch. At the first-ever D23 Expo in Japan, we shared an early glimpse of the plans for AVATAR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park and I wanted to share some of these breathtaking images and a short preview of what’s to come with all of you.

As these concept renderings show in epic scale, in the world of AVATAR guests will encounter awe-inspiring floating mountains and wander through a nighttime jungle of bioluminescent plants that are alive with light and sound. Guests will also discover what it feels like to soar into the sky riding a Banshee.

And the new AVATAR-inspired land won’t be the only change coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Live Performers on Discovery Island Will be Part of New Entertainment Experiences Available to Guests as Part of Expansion at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort

As part of the largest expansion in the history of the park, we’ll be adding all-new entertainment experiences, including a new nighttime spectacular where live music, floating lanterns, water screens and swirling animal imagery all combine to bring a show to Discovery River that will delight our guests and truly cap off their day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The park will introduce more nighttime entertainment as well, including live performers on Discovery Island (pictured above) and a new nighttime version of the Kilimanjaro Safaris.

As the world of AVATAR becomes real at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the energy and passion shared by our Imagineers and the Lightstorm team for this monumental task continues to be remarkable. I can’t wait to see the reactions of our guests as they step into a world that until now has only existed on the screen.

Writer’s Note:

There has been much talk about the introduction of Avatar to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. My personal thoughts are simple! It seems that Disney has a fairly good track record at developing a story that fits the attractions. It is my hope that this will again be the case when Pandora comes to life. At this point, I am looking forward to see what develops over the next few years. I raise an ice cold glass of water in honor of this announcement!

Extra: Memory Making Idea

????????????????????????????????

How do you travel to Walt Disney World? Fly? drive? train? I have been thinking of something that could be fun for the entire family on the way.

I came up with the idea to put together a Vacation Journal. It seems simple enough! All we need is a good notebook to keep track of the states we pass through, restaurants we eat at (especially local fair) along the way, anything that might catch an eye and add to the memories of the journey.

Or, maybe we take a pack of 3×5 index cards and make notes to go with pictures we could snap along the way and then put the pictures, with the proper description card, into a photo album to bring a little more to our memories.

It just seems to me that it would be a really great way to keep track of where you have been, what you have done, and especially the greater highlights of your adventure.

I’m going to put one together for our upcoming trip. I may end up being the one to makes the entries, too! This could be interesting if I am the one driving. I’ll let you know how it works out and will likely share a bit of it with you!

Have a magical week, and God Bless You!!

So, What Are You Listening To?

I guess it’s no surprise that there is a need for those of us addicted to all things Disney that one of the tools we use are Disney Park Podcasts. At one point I had 14 different podcasts that I’ve listened to over the past few years. I have since found that my tastes have been sharpened enough and I now have 4 or 5 that I like best. Sure, I still keep a few others to fill my driving time, I drive a bus for a living.

So, I would like to take this time to give you just a few of my favorites. While my list is not necessarily in any order, I will admit that my number one and two choices are, indeed, my number one and number two choices. And, the reason is simply that these podcasts really speak to where I am in life. The others, however, are in no specific order.

1. ResortLoop.com (www.resortloop.com) With Bob Coller and Tim Scott.
2. Be Our Guest Trip Planning Podcast (www.beourguestpodcast.com) Hosted by Mike Rahlmann
3. The WDW Radio Show (www.wdwradio.com) Hosted by Lou Mongello
4. WDW Today (www.wdwtoday.com) Hosted by Matt Hochberg
5. Inside The Magic (www.insidethemagic.net) Hosted by Ricky Brigante

Some of the others I listen to are; Generation Mouse, WEDway Radio, Wedway NOW!, Mousechat, and Disney Parks Podcast. These can be frequently listened to, but I do sometimes. Especially if the subject is interesting.

Many of these podcasts are available on I-Tunes, or most any other podcast service. Also, available at Sticher Radio On Demand (www.stitcher.com)

So, what are some of your favorites? Let me know in the comments section of this page.

Thanks for reading and have a very Magical Week!
