IT’S A DATE at WDW

Well, we finally have some dates for the openings that we have all been waiting for!

Thanks to CEO Bob Iger, we now know that Pandora-The World of Avatar is set to open to the public on May 27, 2017 in Disney’s Animal Kingdom! That’s Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial beginning of summer, for those of us in the U.S. I think that the new attractions and adventures will bring a new life into DAK, and awaken the nighttime activity. In Pandora, guests will be able to get their eating, drinking and shopping on in the new outlets within this land.

Also announced, was the ‘opening’ of Star Wars at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as well as, Disneyland California. However, in the usual cryptic style, a SPECIFIC date was left out of the announcement. At this point, we have been told that the new land will open sometime in 2019. If I had to venture a guess, I’d say probably around Memorial Day of 2019. also!

There was no mention of the progress or an opening for Toy Story at DHS.

Disney Quick Hits for August 3, 2015

1. Be Our Guest Restaurant has made the Breakfast option a permanent addition for visitors. However, the price has gone up a bit. Adult meals are now $21.99 while Kids 3 – 9 will cost $13.99. Booking for October 4 and beyond will begin on August 5, 2015.

2. Pizzafari in Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be closed for refurbishment beginning August 24, 2015 and going through October 19, 2015. The closure is believed to be a part of an addition of a Full-Service portion to the restaurant. We will try to keep an eye on this one for you. 3. Packages for the Disneyland Resort are now available through 2016! You can now book for any of the Disneyland Resort Hotels, or the Good Neighbor Hotels through December 31, 2016. Packages will include souvenir tickets with Magic Morning Entry, Magical Extras Savings Card, Disneyland Photo Memory, ESPN Game Card and Burger, as well as a collectible pin, lanyard, and luggage tag. Booking one of these packages is limited to 499 days before arrival.

Disney Parks…Fun In A Day

Disney has announced two all day events with a different theme on each coast. But, it will all occur on the same day. Let’s look at how they will differ.

Disneyland Resort in California will launch their Diamond Celebration with a 24-hour event beginning at 6AM on May 22, 2015. The event will include some special offerings and will include both Disneyland AND Disney California Adventure. “Paint The Night” will be the first all LED lighted parade in a Disney Park. It will have over 1.5 million twinkling lights, and resort guest coming to Disneyland Park will be among the first to see this new parade.

“Disneyland Forever” Fireworks will also be premiering during this 24-hour event, and will light the night, and there will be special effects on all of the Main Street buildings, the Matterhorn, and It’s A Small World.

“World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” will be hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and Mickey Mouse. This show will look at Walt Disney’s influence on animation and the dream of Disneyland Park. This is also a new show debuting during this 24-hour celebration.

Meanwhile, the east coast will be celebrating the “Coolest Summer Ever” hosted by Olaf from Disney’s hit movie “Frozen”. Beginning at 6AM on Friday, May 22, 2015. Guests are encouraged to come in costume and be ready to enjoy some of the coolest attractions in the world! There will be some special event merchandise, and there will be food and beverage available throughout the night. And, can I just way that I wish there would be a second park open during this 24 hours, also? Afterall, California gets two parks. I know they are closer together and not as big, but still it would be nice!

Park admission is required for both events.
